Stop by Tarrytown’s weekly farmers’ market for fresh Hudson Valley produce, meat, bread, cut flowers, dairy products, preserves, and wine. There is often live music and demonstrations of traditional crafts.
If the promise of fresh baked goods and a cup of coffee are not enough to draw you to market on a Saturday morning, it’s worth noting that Patriots Park commemorates a significant event in the American Revolution. It is the spot where three militia captured British spy John Andre, thwarting American general Benedict Arnold’s treasonous plot to hand over the highly strategic fort at West Point to the British. Since Arnold’s plot also involved handing over George Washington himself, the capture at Tarrytown probably averted a devastating chain of events. This is also the spot in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” where Ichabod Crane first encounters the Headless Horseman.
When: Saturdays, 8:30 am to 1:00 pm rain or shine.
Where: Patriots Park, Route 9, Tarrytown. Adjacent to the Warner Library, 121 North Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591
