Sheep Shearing

Sleepy Hollow has not one, but two annual sheep shearing events. Sheep Shearing Day at Stone Barns is sold-out, so don’t miss Philipsburg Manor’s annual Sheep to Shawl.

Sheep to Shawl. Philipsburg Manor, 381 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591, 914-631-8200 weekdays, 914-631-3992 weekends. April 16-17, 2011. 10 am to 5 pm. Celebrate the arrival of spring on the farm! The event features Scottish border collies displaying their amazing skills with sheep-herding demonstrations throughout the day, while newborn lambs frolic, much to the delight of children. Visitors are invited to explore each step in the process of turning wool into cloth using 18th-century techniques. Sheep-shearing, dyeing wool, and weaving cloth are just some of the activities that all can enjoy.
